Nanking Clip(2007)-Suffering & the meaning of faith
A poignant clip on the suffering of the Chinese at the hands of the Japanese during WWII. Near the end of the clip-my favorite part- the moving words of Miner Searle Bates, a missionary, provide not a Christian definition, but a universal, human- humane definition of "religious faith". His words are a powerful lesson for all of us- whether Christian or not, religious or not- on how to live our lives & how to live with each other. For me, his words define what "true faith" is and don't require that we have a particular religious affiliation in order to have faith. Miner Searle Bates was a highly educated man who lived a full life. For more information on him see the following 2 links.
