The Wave Glasgow climate change demonstration 2009 was attended by 1000s of individuals and people from environmental and other organisations ranging from churches and charities to political parties, hoping to put pressure on world leaders participating at the climate summit in Copenhagen (COP15) to do more than just pay lip service to tackling the causes of climate change and actually come up with serious proposals that their governments will implement that will make a difference to the world. The demonstration was a long 2.5 mile walk from Bellahouston Park in Glasgow's south side to Kelvingrove Park in the north side of the river, no mean feat for some demonstrators some of whom were very young or old. The demonstration was colourful and noisy, with lots of people wearing colourful winter clothes and carrying colourful flags, balloons or placards, some of them home-made from recycled materials and giant trade union balloons could be seen from a distance. There were several groups of musicians, including several types of drum bands, samba bands including the well-known She-boom, various groups and families with drums and percussion, a pipe band, wind instruments, whistles, chanting of slogans. Some people brought a pet dog, one with a slogan on its back. Many people wheeled bicycles along the march. This video shows the last part of the march nearing Kelvingrove in the west end of Glasgow, going up Kelvin Way and finally ending up in Kelvingrove Park where a rally took place.

Humanitarian and ecological disasters such as massive floods and droughts are on the increase in frequency and intensity due to the climate change caused by global warming which is due to excessive greenhouse gas emissions mainly from large scale industry and airline fuel. Unless governments agree to curb the greenhouse gas emissions including taking steps to stop multinational companies from emitting so much climate change will be irreversible and the tragic consequences will be great and much sooner than expected.
