First, read the freakin rede! It doesn't mention punishment except for burning of the Elder Wood. If you are truly a follower of Stregheria you should know and understand the rede as well. It's not a bandaid as you call it, but a simple guideline and even though its not ancient it bares some deep roots. Do some research into it before you post something like this to tarnish such a wonderful work of art that holds meaning to so many.

@jwcmkc clearly I did not say that the rede involved punishment or that the lines stated such. I stated that the people that use of the rede telll it as if it has a punishment attached . please listen more carefully before calling me to task on things I did not say

"I was a Witch Before Wicca" Sorry for asking but how old are you?
Wicca was founded in the 1950's wasn't it? If you are 45 like your profile says then you weren't even born yet at the time of it's founding.
I did watch your 2nd part to this and you do make some "great" (emphasis on that word) points.

@celldweller454 Finally someone asks what I meant by that! Yaay! What Gardner came up with in the 50s was not called Wicca for a very long time, though he tried to introduce the term it did not take. Thats why none of his books, or his offsprings books used the word Wicca on the cover.
In America the word did not become the accepted norm till the 1970s (officially). America was using the term Neo-Pagan.
Gardners Witchcraft and Neo-Paganism kind of melted together here in the melting pot

@celldweller454 Also what Gardner
printed was "Wica". When it becomes the accepted term it gains a 'C'. Im glad you asked tho, as a teacher some statements are made to stir up controversey and make people seek answers. Alas not enough folk are motivated thus...
