National D.O.M.A. Protest March Rally & Signature Drive on an Open Letter to Barack Obama, reminding him of his promise to REPEAL DOMA!

Rally and March Kick-off at the
San Diego City & County Administration Building
1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego, California
Where, once upon-a-time, from June 17th, 2008 to November's bittersweet election day, marriage licenses were issued to same-sex couples.

January 10, 2009 -- March Against DOMA -- gather at County Administration Building at 10am for a pre-rally, then step-off for marching at 11am. We'll be marching a 2 mile route past the Manchester Grand Hyatt, which the local hotel union and the LGBT community are currently boycotting. Then we'll continue up 1st Avenue and back down Ash Street to County Adminsitration. There will be a second rally after the march, with more great speakers!
This event is one that comes in many forms with rallies in almost every major city mixed with signature drives throughout the nation.

Open Letter from Sen. Barack Obama
2008-03-05 published in Windy City Times

"Unlike Senator Clinton, I support the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act ( DOMA ) —a position I have held since before arriving in the U.S. Senate. While some say we should repeal only part of the law, I believe we should get rid of that statute altogether. Federal law should not discriminate in any way against gay and lesbian couples, which is precisely what DOMA does. I have also called for us to repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and I have worked to improve the Uniting American Families Act so we can afford same-sex couples the same rights and obligations as married couples in our immigration system."

Barack Obama also wrote:

"We also need a president who's willing to confront the stigma—too often tied to homophobia—that continues to surround HIV/AIDS. I confronted this stigma directly in a speech to evangelicals at Rick Warren's Saddleback Church, and will continue to speak out as president."

Hold the new president to his words!

  • How about just plain equal rights across the board?

Repeal DOMA, repeal DADT, pass the UAFA!

And every discriminatory law that exists!

How come it isn't enough just to say that all are created equal? How come we have to keep fighting these battles?

As the sign read: I thought we were finished with this SHIT.
