The Carphone Warehouse : Mahon Point Opening

The ribbon was cut on The Carphone Warehouse's Wireless World in Mahon Point Shopping Centre by local Labour TD Ciaran Lynch on Friday May 13th..

Speaking at the event Deputy Lynch said: "I am delighted to be given the opportunity to open Carphone Warehouse's new store in Mahon Point. The decision to open another retail unit in the Cork area creating eleven new jobs is to be congratulated and commended. I wish the new store and its staff the best success for the future".

To celebrate, The Carphone Warehouse had a Tug o War between Munster's Heroes and their own Geek Squad in aid of Mercy Hospital, Cork.

Sporting legends from the Munster Region such as George Hook, Mick Galwey, Lar Corbett, Diarmuid O'Sullivan, Thomas Mulcahy and Padraic Maher were present at the event with some of them challenging The Carphone Warehouse's own Geek Squad to a Tug o War, with the Geek Squad winning by a mile.

CPW are donating 10% of all funds for the 9 Cork stores for opening week (Fri 13th - Thurs 19th incl.) to the Mercy Hospital. They are also launching an innovative new way to donate using social media, with €1 to the Mercy Cancer Appeal for every new fan until they hit 15,540 fans on Facebook.

Mercy Hospital Cork has been fighting cancer in the Munster region for over 150 years. Under its four pillars Prevention, Diagnosis, Treatment and Care The Mercy Cancer Appeal aims to support patients with cancer including those with Testicular Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Cancers of the Oesophagus, Stomach and Bowel through their cancer journey.
