Although heavy duty batoning is not possible with this knife since it is light and has a folding blade, yet it is very useful for short lengths of wood less than 1 1/2" in diameter. If you are stranded somewhere and have only this knife, here is how it can help you.

  • I love your videos. I understand that the blade lock is what breaks when batoning with a folder. It's best to unlock the knife before doing so. Maybe the sak is well suited because it doesn't have a lock in the first place.

  • @ScottsUtubeWorld This knife works great batoning "small" stuff. Some people get a little carried away, lol. Thanks for your comment

  • @wildernessinnovation Yeah, people keep telling me: "Use an axe!" I had one guy quote a knife guru from the 50's as saying that you should never use a knife for anything but cutting tasks. Well, considering the metal quality back then, I'm sure that he was right. But with modern metals, I feel that things are different. Especially with quality companies standing by their products, we have nothing to lose. Fifty years ago, you couldn't have a knife replaced as we can today.

  • @ScottsUtubeWorld It's a matter of being able to use what you have with you. Certainly when I'm at a regular camp I have a hatchet, an ax, and a saw. But if I out somewhere and get in a bind I need to use my knife for as many things as possible...thanks

  • Keep in mind that Victorinox is buying its steel from Germany. Its in truth a high quality product. Not like those cheap oversized american products

  • @TheSikiciCocuk Love the stuff man!!

  • Great job Sir! I've never used my Huntsman (or Explorer) to do that, although it's been abused in every other way over the past 20 years and is still going strong. Let's raise a toast to Victorinox quality.

  • @deanznz Hey thanks for the comment. Good idea to use a wedge, especially with larger pieces of wood. Have a great day!!

  • @TheSikiciCocuk You're a fucking idiot.

  • @Dco237thEngBn That is correct, this is not intended to split logs, but just to make small material for getting a fire started. Thanks for your comment, have a great day!!

  • Awesome

  • @StroggosMakron Yes the knife does have a saw blade, which I love, just wanted to show that it's easy to baton even with that knife, for making small kindling. The small wood I was working with was no problem for the knife. Thanks for the comment!!
