@textthing Oh, thank you for that. I tend to regard guns as story devices only, a means of snuffing out the life of entirely obnoxious and deserving people, such as in this video.

My experience with guns is that I held a 12-gauge once. My knowledge of them just comes from research for a project. There are a number of videos on YouTube which give you an idea of what guns sound like when silenced. Just out of interest, there's a scene in Casino Royale where you can hear a silencer being used in another room - just after the torture. A silencer is often used by tactical people so they won't be deafened if they fire indoors, or to hide the direction of a shot.

@textthing Hmm, well I don't iknow much about ballistics, to be honest. To me a gun's a gun. I wouldn't mind owning a gun, for some reason but if you have a firearm without a licence in the UK it's an automatic life sentence.

That's a movie fallacy, really. Any gun with a silencer will still make a loud enough noise, especially one of a fairly large calibre. He seems to be using a Glock here, so at least a 9mm. Fire a pistol with a silencer in a suburb like that and someone's going to hear it. Just being pedantic.
