From his 1969 album "I Love You" on the ABC label. Composed by Carl Sigman, Gen. Charles G. Dawes. The music "Melody in A Major," was composed by Charles G. Dawes in 1912 and became a well-known piano and violin piece of it's time. On March 4, 1925, Charles Dawes became Vice-President of the United States under Calvin Coolidge, till March 4, 1929, during which time the piece would be played at many official functions he presided over. In 1951, a few months after Dawes death, Carl Sigman added lyrics to the compositon. It was recorded by many artist, but became a #1 hit for Tommy Edwards in 1958. It is, to date, the only #1 song to be cowritten by a U.S. Vice-President.

  • Can anyone find lyrics to this song!! Because I can't haha

  • to the 2 dislikes up there....which one of you is the grand dragon?

  • 1969 was wonderful for us so happy and innocent and safe and our neighborhoods were what any human being could ever dream of now in all this technology our children are not happy they facebook each other literally to death but hey whatzup utube

  • Eddie is absolutely WONDERFUL. What hurts my heart is that artists like him were CHEATED out of royalities to this beautiful music back in the day and are suffering poverty while others make money on their talents!

  • Yes, but the 'middle bit' of the original Melody in A has gone missing. This happens too often when music is 'lifted' from it's original source - verses too get lost.

  • Nice version. Please find more versions for this lovely song watching my channel RHTYHMS AND STYLES. Thanks.

  • written by vice president of the usa
