Northeast Ohio's closest Great Lake, Lake Erie, is being bombarded with more than 150 dangerous and foreign species. These species could spell disaster for Lake Erie's fragile ecosystem if they are allowed to continue to remain living in its currently healthy waters, as well as damage a large portion of northeast Ohio's economy. Some of the invasive species have even been found to carry Viral Hemorrhagic Septicema, a disease very harmful to the fish that now inhabit Lake Erie. The citizens of northeast Ohio need to take a pro-active approach toward dealing with the causes of this infestation of Lake Erie by threatening species, or they will regret the disastrous consequences for years to come.
