  • Things haven't changed in the media

  • Darro and Moreland made a series of films for Monogram in which they played various roles, usually getting involved in murder. While Darro got top billing, this c changed when the films played theaters with all black audiences. Moreland's pop-eyed look staring out from the poster was all that was needed to put the film over.

  • I love Mantan. Stop the hate and accept it. He is playing a character. There have been plenty of white slackers. Remember Maynard G. Krebs?

  • Reinforcing those stereotypes that Black folks are lazy and shiftless.

  • sick how they did us back then. never foregt!

  • they really put down black folks alot in these old movies.....this one is off the charts

  • I am a white guy and I really loved Mantan Moreland. He really "made" those charlie chan films.

  • I love Marcia Mae
