It was my B-day on 7\8\09 and i went for a flight at Prestwick Flight Center. I got handed the control of the aircraft at 500ft, just after Takeoff. I then flew over my home town and went right past loudoun hill before turning back towards the airfield where the instructor let me land it HANDS-OFF (No help from him. 100% me!).
It was the best thing i have ever done and i am now doing a paper round in the morning to pay for lessons!

  • Awesome video! However, how is it not overweight? Must be very low on fuel lol

The Piper Warriors are made to be overweight with four people on board and full fuel, so if your instructor weighs like 230, and you maybe 120, plus your camera man, another like 150 or so, plus a full load of fuel, that could potentially be over weighing the airplane. On the other side of things, the instructor did let the flight go through, and I trust that his ability to judge the weight/ balance of the aircraft.

  • Good job, did your instructor operate power and flaps ?

  • Flying is awesome isn't it!, Jut need to get money some how to pay for more lessons!

    Nice one mate

  • good job wee man :) im going flying on friday again im doing my flying hours :) ino it looks like u landed it 100% u but the pilot would have been using the foot pedals or rudders to keep u at a good angle as well as helping u with some yaw :) well done though !

  • just looking through your vids and discovered I've flown this one! lol, great flying and its STILL proper awesome!!

  • Hey, how's the flying going? One tip your instructor's probably already given you - the PA28 is very easy to fly and only needs small inputs. Try holding the column lightly with thumb and forefinger only - don't clench it like in this video or you'll overcontrol the aircraft and make life difficult for yourself. Don't forget the aircraft knows how to fly - it only needs you to tell it where to go!

  • @09GregRoy How old are you? I would like to work at the airport where im taking lessons but im 14.

  • whats the song called?
