Listen to Michèle Command singing this opera; I feel, despite the Youtube quality, that it's really good; She's french too, and that's makes a big difference, although Caballe's accent may give to the role some realism, Aragon being really Spanish...

thank you for posting this excerpt of this great opera. How I wish Caballe had taken this role on in her prime- it was meant for her! This is an opera that deserves to be mounted by the major opera companies that have the resources to do it justice.

Je trouve ça formidable. cet air de déploration est dans son français de toujours(!!!) mais elle est en belle voix, en beau phrasé, en beau timbre- c'est le plus étonnant-et l'affection, les souvenirs de beauté font le reste.

In this night, the poor Simon Estes with problems in his voice and avoiding the best aria for baritono in this opera: qui donc commande quand'il aime, has been substituted in the third and fourth acts.....

This opera (in fact a masterpiece)deserves a better group of singers, good scenarios and a wonderful ballet. If you can, try the "unformal" recording of Sherrill Milnes in English. Althouh its fair sound quality, this recording gives us an idea of its merits.
