A Vickers Vimy Replica comes in for its final landing at Brooklands. It was the first time a fixed wing aircraft has landed at Brooklands since the Summer of 2003. The original Vimy was built in 1918 and was famous for the non stop crossing of the Atlantic in 1919. This Vimy was built in 1994 and has flown at many airshows. The last Vickers built aircraft to land at Brooklands was the Vickers Vanguard in 1996
Minor point but a test landing by the Vimy pilot in a Piper Cub was made a couple of days before the Vimy landed on 15 November 2009 as it was to use the grass strip for the first time.
