    3sgte 3rd gen i usually hear they make around 400-500rwhp and nothing higher. Pushing higher is just pushing your luck IMO.

    5sgte can do more because the 5sfe shortblock is stronger than the 3sgte block.

    5sfte.. I don't know its potential .

  • @pham05 Thanks, now when you say supports, are you talking on stock internals? I heard 5sfe N/A + turbo can do 16psi with stock internals. Is this true? See, I have a 5sfe, however I wanted to use the block for at least on 5sgte (conversion? Stroker?). I heard that 3sgte (3rd gen) can do up to 700hp on stock internals. I only ask because maybe I will stock up on some 5sfe blocks.

    I know a guy who has a 2.2L stroker kit on his 3sgte GT-Four that is doing 650whp, and there is also a 850hp.

  • @24okay

    3sgte = 2.0L typical mr2 / celica engine

    Then.. 3sgte head with 5sfe block = 5sgte. (2.2L stroker) ( supports 300-500whp)

    5sfe n/a + turbo = 5sfte (2.2L turbo, not a stroker) ( around 160whp - 300ish whp).

    Stroker = increased piston travel thus increasing cylinder volume..

    hope that helps

  • @pham05 I guess what I am asking is if one has 3sgte... Should he just upgrade that and not touch the 2.2L stroker kit? As the cylinder walls are thinner than a 5sfe? ANd leave having a turbo 2.2 to the 5sfe motor? I am confused... LOL sorry. It is just that I have a Celica with a 5sfe (which I want to do a GT-Four conversion to one day) and I have two Mr2 Turbos, and considering the 3rd gen 3sgte J-spec motor.

  • @pham05 Ok, I know people get the 3sgte and do the 2.2L stroker kit, which obviously uses the 5sfe short block. So is it still a 3sgte? Or is it a 5sfe, with a 3sgte head, being a 5sfte? If that makes sense.

  • @24okay

    Your confusing yourself with the 2.2L stroker (5sgte) and the 5sfte ( n/a 2.2L turbo)

  • Ok, now what I would like to know is why the 5sfte rather than the 3sgte? And is it better to go 3sgte then stroke to 2.2L? Or stick with 5sfte since it kind of is like a 3sgte with a 2.2L stroker kit? This shit has me all confused.

  • Ya you got major compressor surge. Get a BOV asap.

  • lol hey

  • i know you, you drive by my house all the time
