We went to see the lava and this CRAZY water spout made of sulphuric acid decided to amaze us.. I am still not sure what to call this?? It was on the ocean but made of sulphuric acid.

  • Hmm... it's certainly not a tornado, though technically it *could* be called a waterspout. Contrary to popular opinion, a waterspout is *not* simply a tornado over water, but runs by a similar process to dust devils and the occasional firestorm-vortex; rising heated air begins to spin, and if it manages to organize... well, see for yourself, here. :}

  • it's not a waterspout but a vortex formed from the swirling, rising updraft of hot air and air convection. It is similar to the fire whirl or fire tornado.
