This is the story for Koei's "English Dream" learning series, Emit. It's a story about life, death, alternate worlds, the concept of Time, and a high school girl named Tanaka Yuri and a mysterious old man. The idea is to learn English along the way by seeing and hearing terms in the game and referencing in-game tools to improve your memory. The third and final volume of the game is "Bid Myself Farewell". Our series of Emit videos currently don't focus on the learning aspect of the game, but show the story of the game.

These videos will come in two types: English voiceovers w/o a script, and Japanese voiceovers w/ English subs. Something to note is that the pause segments (with the hour glass) are moments when the System shuffles through the CD to find the right audio track, so the length of these segments vary, though they aren't too long. I kept them to show how the game operates naturally. Enjoy.

Full Title: Emit Vol.3: Bid Myself Farewell [English], Emit Vol.3: Watashi ni Sayonara wo [エミット Vol.3 私にさよならを, Japanese]

Addition: Some copies come with the Voice-Kun adaptor, which sends signals to a CD or DVD player to play the 2 Audio CDs that come with the game at specific points in time to synch with the events in the game. The sound you're hearing is from the Audio CDs, not the SNES. It was a clever way to bypass the limitations of cartridges at the time. The actual cart has no sound, so this is rare footage of the game and Audio CD being merged through our Dazzle Platinum.

  • Now I wish they had developed that CD-Rom device for it, that would've been real sweet!

  • @RetroToledo Yeah, the Voice-kun is an interesting way to bypass the system's storage limitations, but the CD-Rom add-on to the expansion slot would've made it that much better! I understand why they ultimately didn't (SNES' CPU, price, release date, etc.), but wouldn't it be crazy if the homebrew scene eventually emerged and made a CD-Rom add-on? It would require crazy skills on their part and talented developers to make any use of it, but I'd throw money at them just to see it in action.

  • Still it's very impressive to get full motion Manga running on the good old SNES. lol.

  • @wrestletube1 Yup. Emit is one of my favorite Super Famicom games (titles) for technical reasons.

  • @Vysethedetermined2 It doesn't look like a game to me. Just straight Manga.

  • @wrestletube1 This is part of series of videos illustrating the story without the other elements. It can be described as a educational game to teach the Japanese basic English and English speakers basic conversational Japanese. It goes over various aspects like word pronunciation, memorization, sentence structure, etc., all bundled together with an interesting plot that makes learning the language more fun. It's part of the "English Dream" series by Koei, which few games are a part of.

  • @Vysethedetermined2 I would pay for that! It would've been interesting to have played SNES games that had CD-quality music for once (not that the music wasn't that bad in the games).

  • Now I know how that Mexican guy felt in my high school's mandatory Spanish class.

  • @wrestletube1 I have the original Super Famicom trilogy with the audio discs and Voice-Kun module. I played the game and captured the audio/video seperately with a capture device (Dazzle Platinum).

  • How did you get sound?
