  • what are the spikes for???

  • They are actually line cutters. If you get stuck, or hit a power/phone line it will snap the line instead of ripping the rotor off. It is a safety addition, of course you want to aim for them or you could miss them all together and have the same fate. :)

  • So what does QBL AVIATION do in Waco? Are they a private charter service? School?

  • Tell you what amazes me, is that the maximum thrust is needed for hovering. I guess I never thought of that. Hovering uses much more fuel. I believe when we were hovering, we were at 60% power on the turbine! In a flight of 100 knots, we were only using about 33% thrust!? It is crazy! Yeah, when he was bidding the hospital in Waco, he actually took the Acme Brick salesman Chuck, up for a ride. Lucky guy! My wife works for Acme Brick and relayed the story.

  • Oh, I thought I would throw this in. He trained not even 3 miles from my house. It is Brazos Helicopters. hothelicoptersdottttcommm. They got him his piston based training. He had to go to Fort Worth to get the Bell 206B3 training. It is really a neat training place. The guys are very friendly and enjoy someone just stopping by to look at the choppers.

  • Oh yeah! The 222 price jumps hugely!! But wow! What an aircraft! Almost looks like a Leerjet chopped down, with a rotor mounted on top of it. He really likes the 222s but not enough to dump that kind of dough on it. I love the retractables! I actually have flown the R/C Nitro choppers (and have wrecked). After I wrecked my first large one (with all kinds of computer hardware monitoring flight/pitch/height) it has spooked me just a bit. It is so hard to control them!

  • @thegadgetrulez there is no way you needed that much more power unless your flying over water or over a swamp... thats insane. id get the blades checked.....

  • you burped in the end \*o*/

  • antennas i think....

  • 5 stars *****

  • Oh really? i never operated a RC helicopter. I bet they are harder than the real thing. ya the 222's are super expensive. Some Helicopter owners do whats called a "lease back", meaning they own the aircraft out right, but they allow a Helicopter company to store it in their hanger, maintain it, and they charter it out to clients and the owner actually can make a little money off of it whiel haveing ownership privliges such as being able to fly it whenever he/she wants. Myabe he could do that?

  • Yep I have heard of Brazos Helicopters. They have their signage on Mustang Island near Port Arnasas advertising Helicopter Tours. I think they have a aloutte or something dont they? If I win the lottery Im buying an

Astar B2, and a Bell 222. ha! that'll be the day.
