  • This was a great movie. I think it came out around the same time as Reds. It's a pity more people don't know about it. I wish Hollywood would turn out more movies like this and Reds. Films seem so dumb nowadays.

  • Are you kidding? Remake this movie? Are u high?

Milos Forman has given us spectacular movies.. This and Amedeus.. Man on the Moon.. and even One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.

I loved this movie.. it was perfect. LEAVE THE 80S ALONE!

  • It's been a while since I've seen this movie. I need to find a copy of it for my personal library.

  • James Cagney last movie with a story and a time period set in the begining of his life in the movies.

  • @scrymusic Amadeus Amadeus! Amadeus Amadeus! Amadeus Amadeus! Oh oh, Amadeus!

  • I'd like to see this movie redone. But not because this wasn't good but because I'd like to see more than Broadway goers and movie buffs to know about it. I want this to be put out to the world as if it was a blockbuster. I want the world to see this as a story that needs telling. Plus I wouldn't mind seeing some of the musical numbers from the Broadway shows added to the movie.

Even better but when the remake is sold as a DVD/Blu Ray, they can package it in with the original, like "Pelham 123"

  • they don't make movies like this anymore! I remember enjoying this movie back when it came out.

  • Was "Gliding" as amazing in the movie as it was in the musical?

  • I also saw this movie in the 80s it's a great movie about the turn of the century. It has it's up's and down's. But for most part I thought James Cagney Finish with a Bang!

  • Very well made movie, but didn´t actually like it. Didn´t like the plot. It starts well but halfway the stories get too exagerated and unrealistic, it was kinda disappointing. I recommend it anyway, there´s some nice film making in it.

  • @lukaspukas1 continued: ...than what it could have been (e.g. better quality cameras, better lenses, etc). But that's the minority. I've got a better idea: why not take shitty movies that had a lot of promise, and fix the problems that were in the original, so something better can be made? God...Hollywood...what a mess.

  • @smichelle65 I think there are lot of factor that fuel those thoughtless responses. One of the biggest ones, I think, are absolutely no appreciation for the original film itself and they want a better one to make up for their "wasted" time. But not all of those factors are negative, sometimes some people want things remade because the film technology wasn't there yet (even though no advancement in tech wouldn't do anything for this film in particular) and the final product was weaker..continued.
