    You said you found the story weak, and that's okay, to each their own. But ever since I beat the game, I've always been of the opinion that the subversion in the otherwise arguably auxiliary story was quite brilliantly executed, and the main villain quite a piece of work. In addition to being a huge DMC1-3/Hideki Kamiya fan, it's one of those rare games that made me want to play it over and over and do better each time, and like I didn't want it to end. Lucky me, we're getting a sequel.
