(Re-edited) On May 18, 1995 a tornado outbreak affect the Midwest and the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys. My hometown got hit by two of over thirty tornadoes in Tennessee that day (at the time the worse outbreak to hit the state since the Super Outbreak in 1974). This is a mock Emergency Broadcast System warning (based on actual events) of the first tornado an F3 on the Fujita Scale that touched down at around 6:00 P.M. I was watching ABC News when I heard about the warning at 5:45 and the sirens sounded at around 6:00, at one point it was over my head. This tornado damaged or destroyed thirty homes and injured twenty people (over thirty horses were killed in this tornado) and damage was estimated at around five million dollars. Newton and Lake Tansi were the hardest hit. I made this based on an actual EBS alert I saw on WATE-TV Knoxville when I was ten years old, that is my voice you hear broadcasting the warning. WARNING: THE TONE IS VERY LOUD!!!!!!!!!! KEEP THE VOLUME DOWN LOW UNTIL THE 22 SECOND MARK.

  • hey i live in crossville. ive been there since i was 2 and im almost 25 now. is there any way u could find out what kind of siren they use there in town and could u make a vid of it when they test it?

  • Crossville use to have a federal 2T22 siren located on top of the Public Safety building it did sound during this tornado but was removed about 6 years ago and to my knowledge they haven't replaced it since. There are sirens in Lake Tansi, I live in Murfreesboro now so I can't help you with the video but if they test the sirens they do it around noon each day if you ever out in that area.

  • I also live close to Nashville. In 1998 we had a big ass tornado. Have you seen my second video, where I made a very very very very very realistic EBS Tornado Warning? This tornado event happened in 1965.

  • OMG! That was the day I was born! May 18, 1995! That is SO weird!

  • Haha. I Live In Crossville Too.

  • Really, I thought 1976, I knew they used the 1050 Hz tone during the post CONELRAD days but I didn't think they switched to the two- tone signal until the mid 70s, I read a purposal from the FCC to change the tone in 1968 but I never knew it was put in effect that quickly.
