  • bobonnwoof, this is a 4cyl L20 engine not a 6cyl. There was a lot of time and elbow grease used to clean the engine, a soft wire brush in a drill works well after all the oil and dirt is removed.

  • For all those wondering and questioning, YES, they are genuine Weber 45 DCOE carbs.

  • It's not revving very high at all, a couple of thousand rpm maybe. It sounds loud because there is no exhaust, just headers.

  • rev the fucking thing, my best mate had a 1600 back in the day, L18, big port head, high compression, twin 40mm webbers, custom grind cam, we used to rev that thing to 9000rpm every day! the L20 or L18 with twin webbers/delortos reving at 8 or 9k with wide open throttle is one of the best sounding motors ever!!!

  • cant you stepp on the gas a little.. ?

  • Nice! The header is a work of art. What's the duration on that cam?

  • i love when a car idles with no prob.

  • @ImakeITHappEN510 bullshit. even L20B race motors with 50mm solexes can't make 240hp. show us a vid of your dyno sheet. you must have one- how else would you know that it makes 240hp? who all thinks this guy is going to come up with some cock-and-bull story about how he lost the dyno printout? we won't even hear from you- LIAR. this reminds me of another comment talking about his 240hp L18. was that you??

  • @mrnismo75 ~ awesome, brings back memories. hada set of these on my escort (mk2) years ago ~

  • got the same setup will post videos soon....mines bored to a 2.2liter 240hp

  • It sounds so good,on the vid it sounds like a V8.Pretty nice.

  • Back in the day, as they say, I had a 1969 Roadster SRL311, but it only had the stock Hitachi SU's. I used to dream about getting the upgrade side drafts, but back then it was expensive and the one I remember being pushed by Datsun was made by Solex. I do recall too that the engine really loved the high octane stuff, like Sunoco 260. Oh well, yours does bring back sweet memories.

  • I had a '71 510 2-door. Had a 1600 SSS with an 1800 crank and ran the 40mm versions of those carbs. They ran great when jetted correctly and when they would stay in sync. Keeping them in sync was always the biggest issue.

Thanks for the video. Brings back great memories for me.

  • that is a great sound!!!!! but love when we put a down draft webber on a offy intake on there, and it would go dddddddddddooooowwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaa.. LOL the side drafts worked way better but the sound was cool
