Easy Street is a story of confusion and bad luck. Theres no-one seems to be able to help you find this elusive street!
The recording was made by John Foggitt at the New Inn, New Bradwell, June 2009. Harmony vocal was supplied by Kere Van Hoven, who flew all the way from her home in California to be with us on that night. Easy Street © Copyright Peter Birkett 2008

I'm lost and I just don't know
Which way I ought to go
Cos the road signs are confusin me no end
This road is kinda rough,
And I feel I've had enough
Of wonderin what I'm gonna find
Around the next bend

Can you direct me to Easy Street?
Where the beautiful people meet
Where the sun shines every day,
Where the rich and famous play.
I need to be where the freeway and the dream day meet
I need to find my way to Easy Street

The road sign says turn right
But I turn wrong all right
And the roundabouts are sendin me off course
I seen enough dead ends
And Im goin round the bend
Cos I seen that buildin more than
Once before of course

Can you direct me to Easy Street?

The wrong road always knows
The way I want to go
And theres nowhere left or right to get me there
I thought I knew the way
I can hear the rich at play
But I cant get to their street
And its not fair

Can you direct me to Easy Street?.

  • Awesome - have watched it a number of times....is there any way to get the tabs for this song...well done my friend.

  • @WayneRailman9 Thanks for the "awesome" adjective. My music is fairly simple - which explains why I use a Strumstick. I will try to send you the tabs somehow, but give me a few days. Basically, its the key chord (F in my case) and the appropriate seventh (C7) with the only other chord coming in on the word "dream" - that being the sub- dominant (B flat). If you were in a more normal key it would be C, G7, F - the original 3-chord trick that we all learnt when we were young!! Thanks again!

  • very well done, I love it. make some more sometime

  • Thanks for the comment - I am trying to get all my stuff onto YouTub, but it's taking a while. I have about ten more recorded, and some more to come - one day... one day... they'll all be up there! They are my legacy. Enjoyed your channel!
