The Hawk

The Hawk is about one man's journey to face his demons, come to terms with his father's tragic death and fulfill a family legacy that goes back ten generations. And that's all in the first three minutes.

The Hawk is a five minute documentary that was created for Burton Snowboards. Burton challenged filmmakers to poach (snowboard illegally) at one of the last four ski resorts in America that don't allow snowboarding and document their experience. This one was filmed at Mad River Glen in Waitsfield, Vermont.

There can be no doubt of the utility to which Gen. Stark's original snowboards could be put on the occasion of the Battle of Bennington. Frost, ice and snow must have been a real obstacle in battle that August 16th; one which the general ingeniously overcame.

i ski at MRG and i found this video great. I have nothing wrong with the snowboarders poaching (i just don't like it when they disrespect the people and mountain)

Perhaps it won because it's a well made, funny, original video with a nostalgic nod towards the history of the snowboard (google "snurfer", young'uns). Well conceived and executed. Not just more footage of a bunch of commandos riding set to a metal soundtrack.
