In terms of media and telecommunications, yes, but only in a free society. When the press works closely with, supports and refuses to say anything negative about the government, it works FOR them. When we are forced to enter our lives into national registry databases, accept chips into our bodies to be tracked, and attend resocialization programs you will have a different perspective. Many of these things are already being proposed right now.
