Want to know a few professional grooming secrets so you can help keep your canine in tip top condition? Award winning Groomer Linda Kay will give you a few tips to help you. Part 1 - nail care for small dogs
I am a groomer with 30 years exp and I would never cut the nails in such a backward angle. The nails do look shorter from the top, but it is an unnatural angle. Imagine the scratches on the owners legs when that dog jumps up on them! I use a Drexel to smoothe each nail after cutting, I smoothe from the back of the nail to the tip and feel for any sharp edges, thats a true mani-pedi!

I find I have more control when I hold the paws from behind but if they're this well behaved, I guess holding it forward works, too.
