Ok folks, well this is my second tutorial type video, hopefully Im getting a little better at this. Anyway, I get a ton of emails asking us how we took the 3D model of our car and create the forms seen in some of the earlier videos. Since the past two months have been full of holidays and bad weather we have not been able to work on the car much so I decided to do a short video explaining the 3D cad in under 10 minutes. I hope this helps I may try to expand on it a little later on.

It looks like maya 2009... fricken expensive software. Hello pirate bay.

  • @bigBadSweed Nope its 3ds Max, but still expensive. You can get educational versions of the site if you are a student or unemployed.

  • ....very nice car design ****top****, you´re doing a great job with this build !!!

...can you tell me how you done the output of the sections to pdf_file directly from 3ds ?

...iám using 3ds MAX portable to create my very first car design....greetz from AUSTRIA

  • @subrotatus1 In 3d Max you can save/export your work as a .ai file (Adobe Illustrator) If you have Illustrator then you load the files in there and edit or do what ever you need, then save the file as a PDF direct from Illustrator. There are other programs that can do the same thing but i use Illustrator. Also check out my new site and forums I am planing on using this to cover all the details. • @BaileyBlade can you actually use this method with a 3 axis cnc to actually cut and piece together an entire foam car? instead of having a wood skeleton and filling in the gaps with foam and actually carving the foam.

  • what software is this and how much is it

  • @BaileyBlade

OH wow haha it is! I cant believe I didnt recognize it! I went to school for for 3d animation, I should know the diff haha. Have you been able to take the finished produce to the track yet? I havnt had a chance to watch all the videos you have up, so if it exists in video form, i apologize in advance!

  • Hey; Which Soft did u use pls tell me i Luv to design a Car....xD

  • @LeXxXuS90 For one the program is expensive, for two its hard to learn without classes/tutorials. I think retail is $3500. If you want to dl it im sure you can get an older version from a torrent or something.

  • When you cut out the MDF slithers, is the top edge still square? or does the machine cut an angle into the top edge? Howdy from Australia.
