This video is of my pet royal (Ball) python dispatching a prey item. Although not a video i would have put up (i find it in bad taste as i know some sick people will watch it to enjoy the suffering of the rat) I decided to anyway so i could highlight the dangers of live feeding. If you watch the video you will see that My snake (Vergil) struck from a very small strike range completely missing the face and biting under the arm this led to a rather more violent struggle than usual and also resulted in the rat's mouth and teeth being uncomfortably close to Vergil's body. That was a day i could have lost my beloved pet to bad feeding techniques.
NEVER FEED LIVE UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!!.
(sorry about the quality. It was filmed on my phone and i had a cold)
Vergil was bought as an adult at 3 years old and his previous owner fed him nothing but live food. When i bought him i owned him for nearly 20 months before i relented and tried a live one. I tried everything from frozen to scented and yes even brained and gutted rats nothing worked so i did what was necessary to keep my snake alive.
poor snake, poor mouse, and poor whoever got raped and had you.

Well fuck you my good sir/madam.
can you not quite clearly see it is a rat and not a mouse? I've even stated it in the Vid description.
Do you think i'm happy having to feed my snake like this? it's fucking horrible. i'd much rather he took frozen/thawed but hey guess what lifes a fucking bitch isn't it.
Read the fucking video description. i'm not glorifying the live feed for fun vids i hate live feeding with a passion but sometimes shit just has to be done.

But you knew it would hurt the snake. That alone makes you a terrible person.

@HTFFanOfFlaky
I apologise for not getting back sooner. I've been very busy and had narly no time to maintain or look after my internet accounts anywhere.
I knew there was a CHANCE the snake could get hurt and i had already alerted the vet that my snake might be coming in with bite/defensive woulds. I had no other possible way of feeding him. I had tried everything including force and tube feeding. I cannot help it that his original owner conditioned him to live food.

@HTFFanOfFlaky
Vergil is dead now. He ate well and was active and happy for a while but eventually he gave up on live food and force feeding was not an option. He used more energy resisting the force feed than he got from the food. I was grateful i got to spend his last few hours with him.
RIP my darling baby

is a license or something needed to own such a pet?
cheers

Not here no. I don't know about where you stay though. He is only a small python though and unable to do any human any damage so i doubtr it unless you have specific laws regarding snake owning.
Licenses are required when you start getting into the DWA (venomous) species though but any constrictying snake no license is needed
