How do we know that that the "tear down this wall" speech didn't actually EXTEND the Cold War by two years? Maybe the CIA got wind that Gorbachev was already planning to take down the wall in November 1987, but then he had to delay that for two years to November 1989 simply because Reagan read that speech in October 1987. Maybe that's the way it happened. We don't know.
Forgot what real leadership looks like? Notice: no teleprompter. When this speech was given, I can distinctly remember how many in media and government tried to make people believe this great and good man was a dolt and a warmonger. Nonetheless, his determined effort to destroy the Soviet system was ultimately a success. Hang in there for the Soviet-era joke at the end of the speech.
It makes so much sense that he is called "The Great Communicator". He always spoke to us, now down to us. He spoke like a common man so that all could understand. Now, more than ever, we need another Ronald Reagan.
@eugene680 maybe he could of abolished liberalism. shit. we live on a welfare state

@DangerDepot What do you think the clearly visible thing to the left of Reagan is? Yeah that would be a teleprompter.
