@KillinDaWelfareMCs i would have to agree and disagree with you on points. it is an entirely different feeling to listen to kirtan in the traditional raag (even more so when using the instruments that the gurus themselves created). but it doesn't necessarily mean that kirtan in this way is impotent. (sangat element is also rare, sangat that actually comes for the kirtan and gurbani) gurbani is still a part of this kirtan, which is the most important aspect.

@luongorule more than meaning is the experience that is stirred in the soul...
Raag is potent as the Guru's knew...
These techniques are impotent...
Meaning is Knowledge...
Knowledge does not cause liberation of the soul...experience does..and those involved in this practice are being robbed of the experience created by the SCIENCE of raag and taal that the GURUS USED...even though they may feel a experience that is infinitesimally small compared to what the Guru's created.

GURRRR!!! absolutely amazing kirtan, the way it is meant to be sung! getting the sangat involved and everyone singing guru's shabads!

they pretty much don't care that the Great Guru's wrote Gurbani to be sung in certain raags and taals huh?
Were the Guru's wrong in telling us at the beginning of every shabad which raag that it is supposed to be sung in?
