UPDATE: A couple of helpful people have told me who deserves the credit for this video. This is part 2 of a four part series called OVERVIEW OF AMERICA, produced by the John Birch Society. John McManus is the narrator.

I have not yet seen the other three videos, but they are here on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search_query=OVERVIEW+OF+AMER...

I saw this video on Sodahead and was not able to pull it up here on youtube, so I am reposting. I do not know who created the video, but will give credit as soon as I discover who did.

The video introduces the Basic Forms of Government: Monarchy - Rule by one, Oligarchy - Rule by a few (generally elite), Democracy - Rule by the majority of the people, Republic - Rule by law, and Anarchy - No rules and no rulers.

In the United States of America our forefathers reflected on and debated these forms of government and deliberately chose a Republic with checks and balances within the system so that no one small group could write or re-write the laws to their advantage.

Quotes from the video:

"The essence of freedom is the proper limitation of government."

"We can keep our Republic, as Franklin put it, or we will inevitably end up with an Oligarchy, a tyranny of the elite."

  • This is just part of the campaign of disinformation being waged on the American people, by the CONservatives, right now. A liberal black man was elected, so all the lairs and cheats are busy distorting the truth.

Fascism IS a right-wing ideology. Communism IS a left-wing ideology.

I guess anyone who has a convincing voice can assert all sorts of things and people will believe them.

We'll be seeing a constant distortion of the truth until they steal another election, just like they did in 2000.

  • @Malcontentjb

    1) I am not a conservative. 2) I've been registered as a Democrat for almost 30 years. 3) This video was produced in 2005, released in 2006 and is part of a presentation that John McManus gave for *years* before it was recorded. So, it is not a reactionary piece, as you claim.

This is about neither the Dems nr the Republicans. This is about educating the American people about the how our government works.

  • Agreed. : )

  • true democracy is only scary when you allow idiocy to flourish. if everyone was equally educated, wise, and shared in the responsibility of governance, then who would disagree with the majority? i would think the right courses of action would be self evident.

  • @bbphnix Fascism is not corporate control by itself. It is corporate control in collusion with the government. Communism is when the government owns and controls everything. Both are ideologically left. This video is accurate.

  • @Malcontentjb Your handle tells it all. Statists are forever trying to rewrite history because the individual suffers under statism and eventually rejects it.

Statists and collectivists unite! Let's have a low, but common, denominator where all are equally miserable and helpless.

  • Excellent and accurate. The Rule of Law, tempered by elected officials, is the form of our government.

  • @susanmarie8 This isn't about Dems or Cons? The fact you can't see that, IS the problem. The mantra of "both parties are to blame" is a lie. Simply do some research and you will see that the majority of corruption and crimes rest squarely on the Republicans shoulders.

This type of propaganda is merely a twist on a 40 year campaign to destroy what the Founding Fathers started.

  • @yohannbiimu This video is a propaganda tool used by an ultra right-wing organization to fool the guilible...There is only one party who constantly cuts funding to education and other essential services needed to run a modern society. Republicans... Wake up you are playing right into their hands.

You people are the 5th Column and you don't even know it.

The anti-government "movement" is merely a part of a plan to dismantle your Civil Rights, already eroded by your hero G.W. Bush.

  • @Malcontentjb You cannot explain why fascism is "right wing." I seriously doubt that you can even describe what fascism is. There is nothing partisan about this video. Both parties are taking us down the SAME ROAD, and the only difference is the degree by which they want us to get to their feudalistic goal. This video is a warning to those who have become serfs to their partisan leanings. This video is a call to the people of the United States to be CITIZENS, not partisans.

  • is a bit one sided tho seriously............

  • @Malcontentjb very well said

  • I thought some might be interested in a little trivia about the terms “right-wing”, “left-wing”. The terms originated from pre-revolutionary France’s National Assembly. Those that favored the established noble ruling class sat on the right side of the hall. Those who favored a change in the ruling class sat on the left. So it doesn’t so much have to do with believing in more or less "government", as much a belief in keeping (or conserving) the established ruling order verses changing it.

  • @susanmarie8 is a component of fascism

    is that true? maybe there's diff between the economic and the political notions of left/right;
