@JustinFromSydney They were after him for some time and they knew his routine. The blue van in front and the black estate from other direction are both police cars (the silver MPV in front seems not to be though). They set it all up at the place, possibly also with a sniper. They expected that he is armed and my guess is, that they wanted to be covered in case of a shooting, hence the camera covering also this angle.
