This is the XL Chateau by Marvelous Cages. I love how it assembles and breaks down with no tools. I can take apart the four wall panels and clean them separately if needed. Dimensions are 32"x 23" x38". The food bowls are too big and can't be moved from where they are in the cage, but everything else is great about this cage. I would buy it again. I think Iggy likes it since he goes in and out through the drawbridge door, and he doesn't hop off the cage and go exploring unless we leave the room.

My husband decided to rename him Magnus after Ultra Magnus from Transformers. He's an Autobot in the shape of a huge truck. He doesn't normally have much to do with our birds but he loves Magnus so I let him rename him to one of his childhood toys from the 80's. We still call him Iggy as a nickname.

  • When you get him to step off you should put the perch/thing you are wanting him to step up onto into his chest. You want him to step *up* and if the thing you are trying to get him to step onto is below his feet, chances are he is isn't going to step off.

Step up and off are basics commands that can be taught with clicker training (if you are familiar with it) in a matter of 2-3 days if you are persistent. If you need any tips feel free to message me! :)

    ..btw, Magnus/Iggy is adorable!

  • @lostintravise Thanks for the advice and the compliment. I can normally get him to step down, but he was in a bad position on my hand and my camera is big and heavy so I couldn't get him in the right spot. He is particular about stepping down since he will do anything to stay with people. He'll hang off my finger suddenly or do other things just to avoid being in the right place to step down. I do plan on teaching him tricks soon. I already have a clicker and a perch.

  • He has gotten really bold with his jumping! And isn't he funny, the little badger, does not want to hop off! It is a beautiful new cage.

  • @mack42pac We have a few methods of trying to get him to hop off. We use a treat that he can't reach unless he hops off or we sort of present the branch quickly without giving him time to think and sometimes he steps off. I want to see if he'll jump to my hand on command. Aurora the parrotlet, and Hedwig the budgie do it, and it's funny to feel their tiny bodies jump on my hand.

  • @happyinlove97 That's great, you should get started with him asp seeing as how he looks like a very smart bird! Beautiful cage, btw. Very nice that it assembles and disassembles so easily.
