THOMPSON - New Democrat Leader Jack Layton blasted Prime Minister Stephen Harper today for putting the interests of "big banks and big oil" ahead of those of working families.
Layton was on the campaign trail in Thompson, Manitoba in the riding of Churchill. Speaking to supporters, Layton said "ordinary Canadians are worried about their savings, their pensions, their homes, and their jobs. They need to know they will be safe and secure." The New Democrat leader added "my top priority is to protect your savings, pensions, homes and jobs. Well re-regulate banks, make sure no one is gambling with your savings, invest in the real economy, and protect health care and education."
