Dolores Gray wearing beautiful mermaid dress in "Designing Woman"

Dolores Gray sings and dances in a very beautiful mermaid style dress in "Designing Woman." This 1957 comedy also stars Gregory Peck and Lauren Bacall. Peck is a sportswriter, Bacall is a fashion designer, and Gray is his former flame.

Dolores Gray wears this fantastic formfitting dress with bouffant skirt designed by Helen Rose and she is so good at how she swishes across the floor. Of course she is a very good singer which she has performed in other movies but Dolores was also incredibly successful on Broadway. She released several albums, which "Warm Brandy" is widely sold on on the Internet.

Dolores Gray began singing in Hollywood clubs at age 14 and was discovered by Rudy Vallee. For more than six decades she performed in nightclubs, cabaret, radio, record recordings, TV, movies, and of course Broadway. Sadly she passed away in 2002.

Think, that beneath all that she is wearing a waist cincher and nylons! All this is so sensual with a tight dress on the hips and the this petticoat style lower part. I remember watching as a young boy these old films and got hooked them on the very beginning. Thank you for posting this beautiful video.

I watched it again, and maybe it was white...as the scenes were dull grey..the mermaid dress is fantastic..the best of both worlds, tight, like a corset then flare like petticoat..all the glamour girls wore them and i had one black silk custom made of me, and later a green, but the black silk was very very expensive...and i was a teen diva..bought new converter for my old movies and etc, so i can get on your tube....yea, if i can figure it out, converts all things to digital, and i have em.

I never saw her, so thanks for this...too young to see her...but she she was fantastic...i adore her. I taught femininity and large part is clothing as visual stimulus...the only ones who know how to really dress femme now are female impersonators. BTW grey is old lady and a bad choice, but the style is floating and flying and ribbons and swirl that is femme.
