The public option will put the private payers out of business but it will not be because it is better. The public option will put the private payers out of business because it will be subsidized by the tax payer.
Those with private insurance will be payiong for healthcare twice: once through their own insurance premiums, and then again through higher tax rates to pay for those who are on the public plan.
As more people switch to the public option taxes will soar.
