Dune could still be made today but as an animated movie with all the technology there would be no worries about the cost from that time. All the storyboards, illustrations and designs are still there and could be used.

Would you have love to see Herbert's vision done justice like this by a good director like him instead of Lynch?

This would have been an awesome idea done right, a movie about 13 hours long and could have been the greatest Sci-fi epic around. Even Ridley Scott would have been perfect since he's a true fan of the novel but left for Blade Runner but both visions would have been great and better than that turd by David Lynch a decade later.
