Aftermath - another theme from the legendary PC-game Quake, released in 1996, which became a worthy follower of the id-software´s cult Doom. But what makes this game a very special one is the dark creepy occult soundtrack composed by Trent Reznor. It´s a masterpiece from the highest adept of his branch. Quake is still considered as one of the best soundtracks ever...
Aftermath is more ambient sound than a typical music soundtrack. (I hope, Hansruedi Giger won´t bite my head off after I´m showing his pictures here... :))

  • wait... y do the images look like dark seed and system shock?

  • with dark seed you're right, because h.r.giger (alien) borrowed his motives for the game graphics design.

  • H.R. Giger's style of artwork is something i wanna try, i really wanna try to draw something like him... but it is complicated and idk how to draw simple things, dang, but ima learn soon...

  • giger is very unique. i was able to admire his works in zürich and in prague. if there is something hellish creepier than giger then it is the hell itself.

  • Back then an art columnist interviewed Giger in his house, and they go to the living room full of his best paintings and sculptures, but she starts shaking and sweating, then feels sick, excuses herself to the bathroom and lo, the sink and toilet are also art pieces.

She darts out to the garden and sees the gnome artpieces and pukes right there on the spot.

She protests in anger: "Good God, your art style is horrendously GROSS!!!"

    Giger says: "Why, thank you."

  • Giger + Quake was just to much for me! Good vid!

  • is that intermission?

  • 0:35 you can almost taste the nuclear explosion.

  • @andrebenacchio I saw that movie

  • @keeroy What? Giger worked for ID? oO

  • @UnitedDiscord I dislike necro-ing posts, but I'd have to say that even though I played Quake (after DooM and Heretic and HeXeN) as a kid, and re-played it later, Akira Yamaoka is still a great, if not an excellent composer.

Though NIN still "owns". I have a sort of a "favorites" list, though it's in my head. Both A.Yamaoka and NIN are on it. There's also no #1 in the list, just the best of all the stuff I've heard. (among which is also Sonic Mayhem and Lee Jackson (grabbag FTW))

  • @keeroy

    I love giger.

Posted this comment ages ago, when I haven't heard of him. He's a great artist
