Grobi is now leaving the aviary several times a day and he enjoys flying after he was kept in a little cage for years. Even though he is still a bit shy he became friends with the other budgies and he is playing, taking a bath, and exploring his new home.

  • that budgie has got the same story as one of my budgies (long john silver). apart from he wasnt in a shelter we got him from a neighbour of my mums friends as he was an un wanted christmas gift . his cage was even smaller than Grobis now he lives in my bird room with my other 3 unwanted pet budgies :) im only 14 and i transformed a spare room into a bird room for my birds because i hate to see them locked in a cage .

  • How nice that you are also adopting budgies. Your saved budgie is quite happy now I suppose. My budgies were not all unwanted, but sometimes the owners just couldn't keep them any more or could not provide a little flock for them.

  • I origanally bought 2 from a pet shop at 10 weeks old. They were bonded and wee thought if we didnt buy them they may get split up. Yogi started being able too fly at about 4 months of age whilst Merlin never grew any of his tail or flight feathers and even at 6 months he still couldnt fly . Merlin sadly passed away and left his brother all alone and depressed but we found an advert for 2 unwanted budgies and we got them. Then we got Long John Silver which i have already told you about :)

  • !!!!!BEAUTIFULLLLL!!!!!

  • really sweet. Your Grobi has already conquered my heart. It´s a really happy and cute bird.

  • too cool

  • Oh my goodness! Look how happy he is!!!!! This is SOOO nice:) I have no idea what is wrong w/ people that they think it's okay to keep these birds locked in cage. It's so common sense. I know of parakeets I'd like to take too, or bring them to a shelter where they'd be better off. It's heartbreaking to me to see these birds in small cages. I think this is one way, Youtube is good. If more people can see videos like this, it can help some birds, hopefully:)
