Great Vid. The myelin sheath serves to promote transmission of nervous impulses along the axon. The carotid sinus gives rise to sensory impulses carried to the medulla oblongata via a branch of the glossopharyngeal nerve. And autonomic nerve impulses, integrated in the pelvic plexus,project to the penis through the cavernous nerves.
