The Olympic flame arrived in China Monday, under tight security following attempts by pro Tibetan protesters to block its path in Athens. Placed inside a lantern the torch was taken to the capital's Tiananmen Square where Chinese President Hu Jintao lit the cauldrom and formally declared that the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay had begun.03/31/08

  • betterthanyou... you are SO wrong because they had one of the best if not THE best opening i have ever witnessed

  • Is there some kind of filter on this video? All I can see is gray...

  • Oh it's Tienanmen square where thousands of pro democracy demonstrator where murdered in th 1989! Way to go, China! You showed those evil Tibetan protesters!

  • Have you already forgotten about Tiananmen Square massacre? This is what the chinese government is all about. They have total disregard for any basic human rights and it's happening to the Tibetans.

China ordered all foreign journalist out of Tibet!!!! What are you hiding China?

Shame on you China, the whole world is watching and condemning your barbaric ways to torture and murder innocent people, including children.

  • sorry you might not see that even after your death!!

  • "sorry buddy, boycotts are rejected. but you can try to boycott by yourself."

Ummm... that's according to you, Major Fong.

World leaders probably will boycott the opening ceremonies. Considering the "quality" of Chinese-made things, I wouldn't want to be in any of the Olympic stadiums in Beijing, period.

  • sorry buddy, boycotts are rejected. but you can try to boycott by yourself.

  • Too late for that most tickets are already sold out. LOL!
