  • Glad to help Will! It's quite frustrating to see people spend so much on their chairs, when the focus needs to be on verticle alignment of head, shoulder, and hips when sitting. This is most easily accomplished with a basic stool or chair.

  • Rather than your buttocks touching the back of the chair, what's most important is your postural alignment. This means when looking at you from side lateral position that your eye, shoulder and hips line up. In actuality, the back of the chair isn't necessary as it prevents your own muscles from engaging and holding you up.

  • Good question, guess i forgot to clear this up. The have good, proper prosture, with your eye, shoulder and hips lined up, you really can't use the back of the chair. It's fine if you want to rest back yet you must understand it will take you out of alignment, and therefore create more muscle imbalance.

  • Thank you very much for the information Micheal! I was about to buy a very expensive chair but then I considered researching first how to sit properly and found your video to be the best one. Simple and direct, as well as very informative! tnx

  • oh man, this needs to go viral, i'm always sitting at my desk like a rolled up mutilated octopus

  • If you're stuck working at a desk all day, what's the best type of chair to have? What's your opinion of those aeron- type chairs? Do they help the situation at all, or am I better off with a stool and forcing myself to sit upright?

  • shouldn't your buttox be touching the back of the chair???

  • good advice, but what if i want to use back part of chair
