1960 Austin Healey with a stock car engine in it. We got the guy to fire it up for us- it shook the ground. Amazing. The specs are here: http://static.flickr.com/114/277629275_5ac3f9cda2_o.jpg

  • big arched V8 HEALEY.

  • Don't forget, if Healey hadn't turned Shelby down first, the Cobra would've been a big arched V8.

  • So many? Then why are restored originals often bringing in $60,000 or more (with some models well into the six-digit range)? The big Healeys were never produced in the sheer numbers like the Sprites, Midgets, and MGBs. I wouldn't dare say "many".

Still, good on this guy. He took his classic BMC car and turned into something special, even if I wouldn't have.

  • There are so many of these Austin Healey's, so If you modify some of them its ok for me. I think these cars are some of the most beautiful cars of the 50-60's

  • Don't say that unless you know the circumstances. Maybe it was an old basketcase with no drivetrain. Besides, some of these early Healey conversions have significant historical value, just as early hot rods do! Early engine-swapped cars were very competitive in SCCA and club racing; were constructed by some very noteworthy people (Max Blachowski, builder of the "ol yeller" race specials), and were the original inspiration for Carol Shelby's creation.

  • sounds awesome!

  • great video clip and I've rated it as five star. Please check out my clips on vintage motor car trading cards, 1920s-1950s.

  • What a waste of a glorious car. Why not just get a kit car and not wreck up such a fine car?

  • too right... what a waste!

  • How to wreck a healey, sad!
