Busking in Newcastle on a Sunday ( not the busiest of days ).
Alexander is on fire on this one blowing his Yanagisawa 991b alto with a metal Ber Larsen mouthpiece. I'm on the trusty P.Mauriat 66 RUL tenor with the RPC mouthpiece and Bois ligature. We both blow Legree plastic reeds.

  • I aspire to be as good as Alex one day Mr bones !!!!

Do you ever get moved on by the Police ?

great playing by the way !!

  • @galaxyblinds We get moved on from time to time, not so much in Newcastle ( apart from nearly getting in to fights with Romanian accordion players and Big Issue sellers over pitches), in Middlesborough we got moved on 3 times by the same cop. He was pretty cool about it, and apologised about having to move us on, but some of the shop owners complained about our volume. We are pretty loud and don't hold anything back when we busk. You either love it or hate it! We love it! Busking is great fun.

  • I would say man but there's two of you! lol ....Men,how on earth can people just walk by when this slippery groove is going down!..I'm surprised some guy doesn't follow you around and set up a portable Bar,he'd make a fortune....I love watching the people pass, your music makes them seem more fluid and graceful.....I love this tune!...excellent vibes from two very Hep cats!!..cheers Dave :)

  • @planetjazzbass Hi Dave,it's one of those things man, jazz used to be the sound but then pop/rock n roll came along and it slipped from the forefront & has been slipping ever since. I must say in defence of the general public, we get a lot of supportive comments (mainly about Alexander), and people do stop and listen but are out of shot most of the time, best not get too close when those notes are spewing out lol...

  • Nyyyyyyyce!

  • Wow man, that kid on alto is a don!! I'd have liked to have heard song for my father LOL

  • @TripleOctaveMusic I had a link way back and didn't like it and moved to a lawton which I also didn't like. I then moved onto Berg Larsen which I stuck with for quite a long time, then I played a MB1 Dave Guardala which blew my mind at the time. I stuck with that for 10 years then Snake Davis let me try his RPC, I thought there was something in it and got one. So glad I did now totally love it.

  • @TripleOctaveMusic Blowing a RPC 115b on the tenor... Handmade piece from the USA... Blows like a true monster, much better intonation than the Guardala metal I was on before....

Alexander has one for his tenor now too... You should look them up!

    Cheers, Steve...

  • Song for My father in the intro? :)! AWSOMENESS!

  • Two "bad-arse" buskers, if I do say so me-self! You guys definitely were having fun and also playing quite well. Alex sounded great, as he's really coming along...Peace!

  • wow dude u tore up taht solo at 2:20 i coudlnt never do that on my alto lol

  • Not my taste of music or sound on a sax, but good job guys.

  • amazing performance, I started playing jazz last year and played through the whole year on a Selmer S80 and was able to get a mediocre jazz sound on it but no better and want to invest in a jazz mouthpiece and im looking for suggestions on what to try out when I go. What would be the mouthpiece coming from a hard rubber classical mouthpiece and ultimately to get the best sound? If its any help I play a P Mauriat System 76 Tenor 1st edition. Well knowing its a tenor will help haha.
