Easy. Two words: Konami, and Castlevania. This was when konami was in their stride, and games like this truly showed what the little monochrome wonder could do with the right artisans. Arguably one of the best GB soundtracks ever.

How can such a primitive game, with grayscale graphics and 8-bit sound...kick so much ass? I'd rather play this than the vomit-inducing, endless galaxy of God of War clones that pass for games today.

Even on Gameboy, Castlevania brings out the creative side of gaming. As read below, I can see that there are still 'veteran gamers' that appreciate the classics that 'enervate' and 'involve' the player more. Today, most games seem to want to do all the work for you, outside the technical work.
