RACISM IN CHILDREN'S CARTOONS

Racism themes within childrens cartoons.

This was made for an assignment on the portrayal of race in the media for a class on race and sociology.

The sole purpose of posting this video was for a class presentation which had I had to perform extensive research on and provide a speech along with this video clip.

Not every cartoon has the same level of racism involved, and I am by no means degrading the cartoons that are involved with this project. Everyone has school projects that need to be completed. One can take a neutral stance when presenting information.

Why is it hard for some people to understand that some stereotypes are true.

Example:

All Chinese immigrants have a slight accent.

Is that not true? They have an accent because English is not there first language!

Having an accent is not racist, and complaining that is probably means you're either over sensitive and like to be upset about everything or you're a mother.

This is in no way racist. In fact by claiming it is this video has probably caused tension between races.

What the white people have done to the blacks over the years in this country is abomonable. There isn't enough money in the world to make up for the abuse and humiliation they endured at the hands of the white people. However, when are we done? It's time we all realize that race should no longer be an issue and people need to stop taking themselves so seriously. I wonder if you take a bunch of children of different ethnicities and raise them in an isolated society free from all racist cultural influence, would they naturally develop racist sentiments toward one another?
