LTD engine nr 9
This LTD has been made according to the design titled MOBIL nr 99 in the booklet by Rudy Mémin (ISBN 2-9518283-4-9).
It is a variant of the MOVING CYLINDER ENGINE by Hubert Stierhof. I constructed the bearing of the displacer differently and used a weight on top of the displacer to make it turn over more easily.
The LTD starts to run at a temperature difference of approximately 13º C. It is a nice design and not at all difficult to build.
Some instructions:
1.Plexiglas: use the correct glue
2.Do not spill glue on the displacer. This will make a hole in the Plexiglas
3.The bearing of the displacer must run very smoothly
4.Use white woodworkers glue to fix the axle with the bearings to the displacer. The Scotch Brite, used as regenerator, may be glued to the displacer with wood glue as well
5.To make quite sure that the displacer runs smoothly you may add a top weight of a few grams e.g. by glueing on a few balls
Excellent, wonder how much power a 4' X 8' unit would have driving a flywheel? All your work is beautiful and a total work of art. I look forward to each and every one!
