Wassup, game headz!!! I know it's been a while, but for being so patient with me, I figured I'd give you guys a special treat. This is the full version (seriously, guys...) of theme from the 1982-1988 and 1991, CBS and syndicated versions of the great Pyramid!! This theme was a remake of Ken Aldin's Tuning Up, which was the theme song for the show's preceding editions from 1973 through 1981 (The $10,000, $20,000, nighttime $25,000, and $50,000 Pyramid respectively), and was orchestrated by TV score composer Bob Cobert. IMHO, this was the best theme for the show. The song's escalating horn notes give the feel of climbing an actual pyramid; plus you've GOTTA love its groovy bass cut towards the end. Feel free to hum or clap along at any time, I'm not stoppin' ya! Enjoy, game headz.... :-)

***By the way, this is also in honor of '80s Pyramid returning to the GSN lineup. MUCHO props, GSN!!***

  • I used to break down to this theme as a kid and would have the t.v blasting! Lol! It drove my mom nuts but i know she felt the groove too :)

  • @BtrSktchCndyGirl Keep on keepin' on, sista!! :-D

  • I wish my High School Band rocked this!

  • @TheOsk1e You guys would be... the most BADASS High School Band EVAH!! \m/

  • Definitely one of the all-time great game show themes! Nice audio quality, I never noticed the nice Rhodes/organ backing harmony on my tv speakers.

  • @sorghumking Yeah, I know, right? The Rhodes piano/organ harmonies were really pronounce around 0:56, don't you think?

  • I can't get enough of this theme, I bump this song on my stereo at the crib!

  • @PatrioticPirate I was ready to vomit myself when i heard that song....maybe even if they couldn't get the original, they could have got something better than what they had...and if i hadn't seen the other shows in the series when i was little, i wouldn't have figured out what the show was about...they could have easily called it "The New $100,000 Pyramid" or something. But as i've said earlier, Donny Osmond was certainly a good host given his lack of previous game show-hosting experience

  • @dlambo1 It's a photo from Corbis, thus the watermark on the upper left-hand corner. Peace.

  • This joint is just so hip-hop! Peace.

  • Anyone look closely in the far upper left corner of the Dick Clark photo of him and the pyramid? There appears to be letters H I S faintly visible above the stage lights.

  • @professor0526 That was the key thing. He gets comfortable, we get comfortable with him, he makes the show his own, and boom! The Price is Right still has life.

  • @EKB316 I agree...it took me a while to get used to Drew hosting The Price is Right, but now i'm comfortable, and i think he's comfortable too. And I think that's what it took for him: To get comfortable in the role, and make the show his own, as Bob said he should do.

  • @professor0526 Now you see why that scares me. And BTW, Drew Carey is doing a good job on The Price is Right. Sure he's no Bob Barker, but he's doing fine.
