Part 1 of 5

Why I chose to transition, how I identify... basically how I came to be where I am today. I know I forgot things, but I hope I gave insight to someone at least.

  • Thanks 4 taking the time to share your experiences. I just have two questions plz. What does "queer" mean as it applies to you?

Secondly, when someone is having gender identity issues in a society that has limited understanding of human nature, is clinical depression common?

  • @Landrew120880 When I identify as "queer" to me it means so many things, but mostly outside of the contrasts that society has defined the gender binary to be. I also use "queer" to define my sexuality. Though people walking down the street view my partner and I as a "straight" couple we will never be that straight couple and will never feel like we are.

I do think that depression is very common among gender variant individuals because of societies perceived limitations of gender expression.

  • @Landrew120880 I attended a meeting tonight where I heard many instances of depression with people dealing with coming to terms with who they are and coming out to people. One of the hardest things is coming out to people, which I again feel is very hard because of the strict gender binary views the society we live in teaches us to hold.

  • You have really inspired me, I just thought I'd let you know that because of your videos, I came out of the closet to my mom last night and told her that I didn't want to be a girl. It went well. It could've went better, because she still doesn't accept it, but she said she wasn't going to say anything against it. Thank you for inspiring me so much.

  • @alissewonder The subtle varieties in the trans community itself are so interesting that it overgrows the petty conceptions often held by people or professionals about sexual identity and so-called orientation.Even when a person starts with a defined trans identity,if the spirit grows enough to embrace its androgeny and realize the potential alternatives of this condition, a new spectrum of possibilities opens up and the beautiful hues of colors start to show up.
