  • Oh please! To compare the tempo of this brilliant performance of this great symphonic choral masterpiece to some drum and bugle corps rendition of the same work is moronic!

  • You have to check out the Drum Corp version (Star of Indiana 1990). Its great. This one is kind of slow.

  • Those final few chords send chills down the spine!

  • Too much slow!! I think this isn't correct tempo of this final part of Walton's Oratorio...

  • Some very fine sopranos in the choir!

  • This is a good performance of a great work, I liked the bass/baritone's voice very much though he could have been a bit more expessive. The early 70's recording with Andre Previn/LSO is the definitive, in my opinion. It has never been equalled. This work is performed quite frequently in the U.K. but I guess like a lot of English music not so much in other countries.

  • it 's a bit late, but:

    applause! and lots of 'Bis'!

I'ld love to perform this too, on my violin, my alto or as a tenor in the choir, I wouldn't mind.

  • If could live my life over again, I would prefer to live it as a member of this choir, singing this piece, "The Hymn of Jesus" by Holst, and the "B-minor Mass."

  • What a wonderful rendition of this work! One of my favorite choral works with orchestra. I was introduced to it performing with the Philadelphia Orchestra at SPAC in the 1970s and hearing it again still makes my hair stand on end. Our SPCI choral forces were larger - over 300 voices - which helped us hold our own against the large orchestra. But this recording is wonderful. Why is it so seldom performed?

  • My god the Sporanos at 1.51 that is so high

  • the end is like, on of the most epic things ever written. i could of cried performing this piece.
