Digging through my old stuff, I found this old video from a "how-to build your own PC" guide I was working on at the time.

For people that need to be "talked through" installing a CPU and HSF.

  • The 20 pin connecter is not molex. It isn't called a "basket", it's called a bracket.

  • @themanhunt1234 Nit pick much? ;-)

It's actually not even called a "bracket", but rather a "retention mechanism" and the part that clicks into it is a "clip frame", as per Intel. There is no "bracket", per se.

And Molex is a brand of connector. It can be any number of pins, any shape of connector if you want to get technical. The 4-pin connector everyone calls a "Molex" isn't really a Molex either unless its made by Molex, It's actually a "peripheral power connector".

  • Did that motherboard work, after u finished spinning and rubbing it into your floor?

  • @eilif9 It's a table, not a floor and yes it worked. Why wouldn't it? The table's laminiated and the motherboard was spinning on the tips of the plastic clips that the northbridge heatsink and PCI slots were attached with. Don't be a know-it-all.

  • thermal grease?

  • Read further down. Heatsink has a thermal pad on it.
